BT is a multinational telecommunications company which has a presence in around 180 countries providing serviced to companies and individuals.
The monitor networks that play a vital role in the day to day life ensuring that the world is connected 24/7. Work is carried out by thousands of BT staff working in different areas from network engineers to software developers right down to customer service operators , we all play a major part in ensuring connectivity for the nation.
My Typical Day: Executing test to ensure all content is working effortlessly on the BT sport App.
Currently i work on the BT Sport App which can see up to 1 million users on the app at one given time. To ensure all users have a seamless experience i have to complete various test to check all systems are integrated and working cohesively.
Daily i check the BT sport app , checking all the channels and content hosted on the app ensuring there is no buffering , no bugs and ensuring the feeds are running with no errors. We use software to run some tests and to see where faults lie then fix it before the customer notices.
What I'd do with the money
Run workshops to engage, inspire and motivate students to start a career in the STEM field by teaching them the basics of TV & Digtial Media and how services are provided.
With the Prize money i would run numerous workshops to inform individuals on how intricate and how many steps goes into providing internet and TV services. I would do this by contacting schools , especially inner city London schools, where there is a lack of opportunities and engagement in STEM subjects.
I would also use these workshops to inspire individuals to kick-start their career within the STEM industry as it is a growing industry that constantly needs fresh faces and keen individuals to execute ideas.
