I would say speaking in front of an audience and showing them what i do in my day to day life. As not only did i have to ensure i was saying the right stuff i had to make sure the product i was talking about was working correctly.
It really tested my presenting skills and grew my confidence majorly.

I have worked on a project to conduct testing of the F-35B on board the Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier, and then conduct assessments in terms of safety and operations, presented to the Project Engineer, to prove that the aircraft is safe to operate with the ship.

Write my thesis! As a research engineer doing a PhD, we have 3 years to do experiments and then 1 year to write about our results. I’m nearly finished, but will probably be about 250 pages when it’s all together!

The most challenging task I had in the past year is taking over full responsibility for our corporate brownie/cub science badge nights. These take place about four times a year and as host I have to organise the whole event. This involves completing the paperwork, risk assessments, gathering the equipment for the activities and refreshments. The form filling bit wasn’t too difficult, the challenge came trying to send out a mail merge to the pack leaders inviting them to the event and then arranging the children into groups, so there was an equal number in each. Didn’t quite work, I ended up with two large groups and a small one!
