I think one of the first real engineering tasks I did was fix up an electric car! I did a research project between the second and third year of my degree and that involved testing the batteries, the brakes and suspension then designing a fuel cell to be fitted to it.

The first engineering job I had was working on the Eurofighter Typhoon where I worked on a project to refit parts of the cockpit with upgraded equipment.

My first task as an engineer was going with a group of engineers to Farnborough airshow (paid for by the company) and upon our return we had to give a presentation about what we’d learnt and seen during the day.

My first proper engineering task was to do with software engineering and i had to code a game from scratch using python.

I remember distinctly being young and taking apart a remote control car, and got in a lot of trouble. I suppose that was my engineering spirit coming out!
