My favourite engineer is Burt Rutan, who was an aircraft designer. His designs are often peculiar but are lightweight, strong and efficient. His most notable achievements include the Voyager (first plane to fly non-stop around the world) and SpaceShipOne (first privately funded spacecraft.) Burt is also honoured at the National Air and Space Museum.

John Perry – he wrote the first chemical engineering handbook back in 1934 and it has become my go to book when I need to look something up!

I would go with Bob Widlar. He was a crazy guy who was in the beginning of Silicon valley, designed some of the most famous circuits ever used. He famously smashed anything that didn’t work with a huge sledgehammer. Look him up, he has a great story.
